‘His presence will be deeply missed’: Jackson police officer passes away

The Jackson Police Department announced that veteran officer Corporal Christopher Gallion, Sr. died Thursday night. 

According to department officials, Gallion was a 17-year veteran of the capital city’s force after graduating as part of the “Mighty 43rd” class in 2008. 

“Throughout his career, he served with honor, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to protecting and serving his community. His leadership, mentorship, and kindness touched the lives of so many, both in and out of uniform,” the statement reads. 

“We love him dearly, and his presence will be deeply missed. Though his watch has ended, his legacy of service and sacrifice will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.” 

The department has not released information regarding Gallion’s cause of death at this time, though more details are expected to be released later Friday.
