Hurley native Aryanna Hopkins has been crowned this year’s Miss Junior High School America.

Hopkins earned the award over 44 other contestants at the annual pageant held in Little Rock, Ark. She was given the honor due to her leadership skills, which were demonstrated through hours of community service and her advocacy of the national anti-bullying platform — BRAVE.

The 13-year-old was also recognized courtesy of the creation of her original platform, YOUnique, which serves to remind young girls that they are enough and that no dream is too big.

Hopkins walked away from the contest with a prize package of over $100,000.
