An investigation has been launched after an inmate was found dead in Lowndes County.
Per a report from WTVA, the inmate was found unresponsive in his cell Monday around 7:00 a.m. The identity of the inmate is being withheld until family members are properly notified.
Sheriff Eddie Hawkins told the TV station that the inmate was awaiting trial and had been jailed for 56 days before his death.
