An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Pearl.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was asked to respond to a medical emergency possibly involving an overdose death at the jail on Thursday afternoon.
While details remain slim, we do know that Rankin County Coroner David Ruth recovered a body from the state-run prison. No cause of death has been provided at this time.
At the time of publication, the Mississippi Department of Corrections had not responded to a request for comment from SuperTalk Mississippi News.
