In light of the recent water issues across Mississippi’s capital city, several universities and colleges in Jackson have temporarily changed in-person classes and residential life until the water pressure is regulated.
On Monday night, Jackson State University announced that students will switch to virtual learning for the remainder of this week and water will be delivered to those living on campus. The campus also released plans to “update the open-access computer lab listing for students who do not have access to devices or Wi-Fi.”
All in-person classes at Millsaps College has also transitioned to virtual learning, and the school is recommending that all students that aren’t fall athletes to return home for the time being.
As for Belhaven University, all in-person classes have been canceled for Tuesday, but online classes are still expected to continue. The university has stated that it plans to release how operations will be handled going forward into the week as more information is given on the condition of Jackson’s water.
Currently, Tougaloo College has not announced what steps will be taken this week as the water issues are being resolved.
