A Jackson man has been arrested for lying about a child being kidnapped.
According to police, Stedmon Tolliver called authorities on Sunday afternoon to report that his vehicle had been stolen at the Family Dollar on Medgar Evers Boulevard and that a child was inside the car.
Tolliver, after being questioned by officers, admitted that he was dishonest about the kidnapping and was charged with filing a false police report.
However, Tolliver maintained that his vehicle had actually been stolen. The Jackson Police Department is attempting to locate the car.
