Jackson man busted for sextortion scheme involving underage females

A man from Mississippi’s capital city will spend a minimum of 15 years in prison for his role in a sextortion scheme involving female victims, some of whom were underage, across multiple states.

Marquez Cameron Jones Weston, 22, fessed up to engaging in cyberstalking, interstate threats, extortion, attempted production of child pornography, and transportation of child pornography over the internet. As part of the scheme, Weston successfully acquired money as well as sexually explicit photographic images and videos from multiple females.

The suspect pleaded guilty to attempted production of child pornography, transportation of child pornography over the internet, extortion, and cyberstalking. He is scheduled to be sentenced on August 27.

The FBI is investigating the case with assistance from the Sam Houston State University Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Kimberly T. Purdie and Dave Fulcher are prosecuting the case.
