Residents of Mississippi’s capital city are being asked to conserve water as power is out at one of the main water treatment plants.

JXN Water issued a release Friday morning following a severe round of weather that swept through central Mississippi Thursday night, knocking the lights out for over 50,000 residents and businesses.

“Due to a loss of power at O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant, residents can expect reduced pressure until restored,” the release noted. “Please conserve water until further notice.”

JXN Water will provide further updates as it continues to assess the impact of the storms.
