The first season of the Coach Prime era at Jackson State has come to an abrupt end.

Due to COVID-19 protocols and contact tracing within the Tiger football program, Saturday’s season finale against Prairie View A&M has been canceled and will not be made up.

The Tigers end the truncated spring season with a 4-3 overall record (3-2 SWAC). Jackson State opened the season with three straight wins but lost their last three games. The fourth win comes as the result of a forfeit from Alcorn State which opted not the participate in the spring season.

When Jackson State takes the field in the fall, there will be plenty of new faces on the field after Deion Sanders brought in the top-ranked recruiting class in the conference. The class included several power 5 transfers and 4-star recruits—including his son, QB Shedeur Sanders.
