Jackson teen faces capital murder charge for weekend shooting

A teenager in Mississippi’s capital city is facing serious charges after a shooting over the weekend.

The Jackson Police Department took 15-year-old Christian Powell into custody on Thursday for his alleged involvement in a shooting that took place on Red Oak Drive on Sunday.

Powell is accused of opening fire at the residence, striking and taking the life of Charles Brown. Another individual was injured in the shooting. The identity of that person has not been released at this time.

The suspect now faces capital murder and aggravated assault charges.
