FedEx has announced that they are committing $5 million to four Historically Black Colleges and Universities, two of which are in Mississippi.

The initiative is intended to create valuable education and job readiness for students at Jackson State University, Mississippi Valley State University, Tennessee State University, and LeMoyne-Owen College.

A portion of the multi-year commitment will also go towards offering relief support to help students, faculty, and staff at each school who have suffered economically due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With many students and families struggling right now as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, our hope is that this timely investment will help keep more students in school and provide future access to leadership, educational, and employment opportunities,” corporate vice president of Human Resources at FedEx Judy Edge said.

Each school will receive $1 million for job readiness programs with the remaining $1 million being divided among the universities for COVID-19 relief.
