Governor Tate Reeves has proclaimed July 11 as 5th Squad Day in Mississippi.
“We’re proud that over 165,000 veterans call Mississippi home,” Reeves wrote in a Tweet. “5th Squad is a tremendous organization that’s helped hundreds of those veterans by providing support for housing, groceries, and utility bills. It was my pleasure to declare today as 5th Squad Day in Mississippi!”

5th Squad is an organization started by four soldiers with the goal of getting veterans off the street and back on their feet. The organization hosts several fundraisers throughout the year and gives all of the proceeds to veterans in need.
