A Lauderdale County deputy who was shot while apprehending a murder suspect is expected to make a full recovery.
According to the Scotty Ray Report out of Meridian, there was a fatal shooting Thursday night at a home on Highway 495 following a domestic dispute.
On Friday around 5:45 a.m. deputies encountered the man believed to be the suspect when the deputy was shot after a brief pursuit.
The suspect was taken into custody and placed in the Lauderdale County Jail while the deputy was transported to a local hospital. According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
No names have been released at this time.
