The man involved in what is believed to be a murder-suicide case in Gautier has been identified after officers found two people dead on Monday.

Officers with the Gautier Police Department reported ringing the doorbell before hearing a gunshot at a residence on the 1700 block of Pat Drive while responding to a call about a welfare concern.

Police then forced entry into the home, finding a male deceased in the living room and a female dead in another room.

Gautier Police Chief David Bever has since released that Randall James Oliveira, 55, was the male found dead in the residence.

Jackson County Coroner Bruce Lynd has confirmed that Oliveira died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, while the female died from blunt force trauma.

The identity of the woman has not been made known to the public at this time, but officials have stated that the two were in a relationship prior to their passing.

Both are believed to have lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the past two years after moving from Massachusetts.
