A man impersonating a police officer’s fun was cut short on Monday when he attempted to pull over an off-duty deputy in Mississippi.
Curtis Lamar Gaines is reported to have flashed blue and white lights in an effort to conduct a traffic stop, Breezy News reports. But what he didn’t know was that Attala County Deputy Braxton Goza was behind the wheel of the car being pulled over.
During the attempted stop, Goza notified on-duty officers what was going on. When police arrived at the scene, Gaines allegedly sped off, passing multiple automobiles before ultimately stopping and being arrested near the Attala-Leake County line.
Gaines is charged with impersonating an officer, improper equipment, reckless driving, and possession of marijuana.
Police remind Mississippians that they can call 911 to confirm the legitimacy of an officer if they are ever pulled over.
