Gulfport law enforcement authorities are looking for a man accused of shooting a juvenile on Christmas day.

40-year-old Joshua Wells is wanted for one count of aggravated assault in connection with the shooting. Gulfport police were dispatched after reports of gunfire ringing out on 44th Avenue and 13th Street.

Officers found an unidentified juvenile victim who had sustained injuries from a gunshot wound at the scene. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.

Wells was allegedly involved in a physical altercation at a nearby residence, leading to him brandishing a firearm and firing it, striking the victim. GPD officials say he then fled the scene in a black 2017 Chevrolet Impala.

Wells was last seen driving a black 2017 Chevy Impala when he fled the scene of Wednesday’s shooting. The car’s license plate is BOSLDY5. (Gulfport Police Department)

Authorities say Wells is described as a Black male around six feet tall, weighing 210 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. GPD is asking for the public’s help in locating Wells and his car with a Mississippi license plate BOSLDY5.

Wells should be considered armed and dangerous.

Those with information regarding Wells’ whereabouts or the case are encouraged to call GPD at (228)868-5959 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at (877)787-5898.
