A K-9 with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) helped authorities locate three missing children.
On Thursday, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office called on Conservation Officer Starling and his K-9 Charlie to assist in the search of the trio of youth. The children had reportedly gone missing from their Monroe County home around 2:00 p.m.
The conservation officer and his thoroughly trained K-9 reached the children’s last known location at around 4:15 p.m. Starting there, Charlie was presented with an article of clothing from one of the kids, and within 15 minutes of searching, the K-9 was able to track down and locate all three children.
The names and ages of the minors have not been released by officials at this time.
MDWFP’s K-9 unit is comprised of four dogs that cover the entire state of Mississippi and specialize in wildlife detection and search and rescue operations.
“MDWFP is proud of the efforts this team puts into assisting communities in situations like these, and we are thankful to report the children were found and brought home safely,” a statement from the department reads.
