For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Millsaps women’s basketball team is going dancing.

The Lady Majors secured a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday, taking down Centre College 68-63 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) championship game to earn the conference’s lone automatic bid. It will be the first time since 1995-96 that Millsaps plays in the NCAA Tournament.

Leading the way for the Lady Majors (24-4, 12-2 SAA) was junior guard Haley Franklin. The Baton Rouge, La., native scored 35 points in the championship game to wrap up a tournament-leading stat line of 23.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. Franklin, who cracked the 1,000-career point mark against the Colonels (21-7, 10-4), was named the SAA Tournament MVP.

Millsaps will learn of its next opponent and competition site during Monday’s selection show at 1:30 p.m. CT. The first round will take place on March 1.
