The competition for the title of Miss Mississippi in Vicksburg is halfway through, with the 31 contestants set to begin the preliminary rounds tonight at 7:00 p.m.
Candidates will be judged in three preliminary events including a talent portion, on-stage interview, and red carpet walk over the next few days before an overall winner is crowned Saturday night.
The winner of the title of Miss Mississippi will not only receive a large scholarship prize but also participate in next year’s Miss America competition.
One of the contestants, Miss Red Hills Rachel Graham, says it’s been a great week already.
“We’ve been going through rehearsals, parades, and autograph parties, just getting to feel like a celebrity all week,” Graham explained. “I have been having so much fun connecting with these girls, getting to hear from great speakers across the state, and just being able to grow as an individual.”
Tickets to watch the preliminary competitions and Saturday crowning are still available.
