Mississippi Aquarium capitalizes on Buc-ee’s ‘beaver fever’ with creative billboards

Mississippi Aquarium is looking to capitalize on the excitement and anticipation of Buc-ee’s soon opening up shop along the state’s Gulf Coast this summer.

Leaning on the common knowledge that Buc-ee’s — the wildly popular colossal convenience store — is branded by its beaver mascot and clean bathrooms, the aquarium is advertising its dam-building, semi-aquatic rodents to reel the public into the Gulfport facility.

In one of its billboards, the aquarium has a picture of a beaver with the caption, “We heard you like beavers (and clean bathrooms).” Another billboard reads, “We’ve got beavers too.”

It’s no secret that beaver fever is gaining traction in Mississippi, and to signal that Buc-ee’s will soon open its doors to the public in Harrison County, a bronze statue of the mega store’s mascot is now standing tall in Pass Christian. The location is slated to begin welcoming visitors on June 9.

But, as is evidenced by Mississippi Aquarium’s creative billboards, Buc-ee’s isn’t the only place to satisfy the collective beaver fever building in the region. In fact, folks can actually witness living beavers, along with a litany of other land and aquatic species, in action at Mississippi Aquarium.
