On Tuesday morning, the Mississippi Aquarium released six more Kemp’s ridley sea turtles into the Gulf of Mexico.
The endangered turtles, which were released on the beach in front of Edgewater Mall in Biloxi, were transported from New England to Gulfport back in late 2021. All six were successfully rehabilitated by the Mississippi Aquarium after suffering from pneumonia due to the frigid eastern waters.
Since opening in August 2020, the Mississippi Aquarium has rehabilitated and released 57 Kemp’s ridley sea turtles. To watch Tuesday’s release, click here.
