Mississippi Aquarium’s annual “Hancock Whitney Sea of Stars” fundraising event is set to return to Jones Park in Gulfport on Friday, September 30.
The event will be free to the public, where visitors can experience local food vendors and live music, as well as view the aquarium’s second one-of-a-kind drone lights and fireworks show.
Attendees watching the show will be able to see 100 drones create three-dimensional shapes and animals, including alligators, dolphins, and turtles while listening to a curated soundtrack of classic and modern songs.
Each year, the Mississippi Aquarium holds a fundraising event to give back to the community while receiving donations, with last year’s event estimated to have hosted over 10,000 attendees.
“We are a non-profit and survive by money that is generated by ticket sales and there is no state or city support,” Kurt Allen, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Mississippi Aquarium, said. “We want to make sure that we go out as the state’s aquarium — we want the entire state involved — so we appreciate everybody in the entire state who come down and support us.”
This year, the aquarium is selling tickets and sponsorship packages for VIP Experience to raise donations, giving ticketholders the best seat in the area to view the show while enjoying upscale cocktails, coastal cuisine, and animal encounters.
“Tickets are still available online on our website,” Allen explained. “Again, it’s our annual fundraiser so we appreciate all the support people give us.”
Pricing for admission to the aquarium’s event begin at $300 for one and end at a $10,000 package for 45 guests. For more information about ticket prices, click here.
Those wishing to see the synchronized drone and fireworks show from additional locations can watch from the beach, boats, and restaurants along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
