A Mississippi attorney has been arrested for allegedly sneaking contraband to inmates he supposedly represented.
According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, Daniel Sidney Dale was taken into custody Thursday after being caught trying to smuggle cell phones, tobacco, and scales, among other items to detainees.
“Attorney Dale, in a trusted position responsible for the constitutional rights of arrested suspects, jeopardized the safety and integrity of the Hinds County Detention Facilities and the public,” Jones said.
Jones added that Dale was posing as legal counsel when the contraband was discovered.
Dale is charged with two counts of conspiracy and three counts of introduction of contraband to a correctional facility. More arrests could come in connection to the case, according to Jones.
