Mississippi banks first half of the $1.8-billion from the American Rescue Plan

The first half of the $1.8-billion coming into our state as part of the American Rescue Plan is in the bank.  House Speaker Pro Tempore Jason White told SuperTalk Mississippi they received the check this week.  It’s big money, equal to the entire annual state budget.  Unlike funding received in the past, this money has relatively few restrictions, though it does have to be spent by 2024.

The package also includes over $1-billion for municipalities and counties.
