Mississippi businesses warned to be wary of fake annual report notices

The Mississippi Secretary of State’s Office is urging business owners to beware of misleading items of mail distributed by third-party entities urging annual report filings.

According to Secretary Michael Watson, these mailers typically request a fee and appear to be official government correspondence. All business owners are requested to read the fine print as the secretary of state’s office does not authorize these forms of communication.

Domestic LLC owners are reminded that they can file annual reports on the secretary of state’s website at no cost. Annual reports are due by April 15th of each year. Mississippi LLCs will receive numerous reminders of upcoming filing deadlines and responsibilities.

Businesses may report deceptive or misleading solicitations to Watson’s team here or the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office at (1-800)281-4418.
