The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum was recently recognized as part of Tripadvisor’s annual Travelers’ Choice Awards.
The Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, which conjoins with the Museum of Mississippi History to form the Two Mississippi Museums, is not only listed as the No. 1 attraction inside the city of Jackson but was recognized for consistently placing among the top 10% listings around the world on Tripadvisor.
“We are honored to be included among travelers’ favorites this year,” Two Mississippi Museums director Michael Morris said. “While we’re grateful to our visitors, this recognition also reflects the commitment of our staff, donors, and members who support our work to tell Mississippi’s stories.”
On Tripadvisor, the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum has five stars out of 242 reviews, with users calling it “great,” “excellent,” and “emotional,” while encouraging others to take an entire day to spend it at the museum to “learn about the past and how it has impacted the present.”
John Boris, chief growth officer at TripAdvisor, said the award was well-deserved for the museum that opened in 2017 in celebration of the state’s bicentennial.
“Congratulations to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum on its recognition in Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards for 2024,” Boris said. “Travelers’ Choice honors businesses that consistently demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence. This means you have made such a memorable impact on your visitors that many of them took the time to go online and leave a great review about their experience. We hope this recognition continues to drive business to you in 2024 and beyond.”
