One of the most popular roadway stops in smalltown Philadelphia has a new favorite team after local standout Jarquez Hunter was drafted in last month’s NFL Draft.

Philadelphia Market & Deli Marathon saw one of its nicest and most talented customers walk through the doors when Hunter stopped by Tuesday afternoon. The hometown hero’s visit prompted the convenience store to announce its newfound fandom for the Los Angeles Rams, who recently selected Hunter in the fourth round.

“Philadelphia Market & Deli proudly announces their support for the LA Rams following the drafting of Jarquez Hunter for the 2025 season,” a Facebook post reads. “We extend our best wishes to Jarquez as he embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career. A former player for the Neshoba Rockets, Jarquez exemplifies the belief that with hard work and self-confidence, anything is achievable.”

Hunter made a name for himself nationally while at Auburn. Across four seasons, he compiled nearly 4,000 all-purpose yards and 29 touchdowns – both ranking among the program’s best. In 2024, he was named to the All-SEC first team after a career season that included 1,201 yards on the ground and eight rushing scores.

But beforehand, Hunter was known locally for being one of the best running backs Mississippi has ever seen. Playing for Neshoba Central High School, he was named the state’s Mr. Football as a senior and rated a three-star recruit. He chose Auburn over Mississippi State and Iowa.

Hunter is expected to compete for snaps as a rookie, joining a Rams running back room that also includes Blake Corum and back-to-back 1,000-yard rusher Kyren Williams.
