As you get ready to hit the road for the upcoming 4th of July weekend, the Mississippi Highway Patrol has officially started its holiday enforcement period.
Beginning Friday, July 1 at 5 p.m., all available troopers will be assigned to saturation patrols and checkpoints to promote traffic safety. The enforcement period will run through Tuesday, July 5 at 12:00 a.m.
If you plan on drinking during your 4th of July celebration this weekend, make sure that you have a sober designated driver as part of your plan to make it home safely.
During the 4th of July holiday period in 2021, MHP investigated 151 crashes with two fatalities and made 146 DUI arrests on state and federal highway systems.
