Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, in cooperation with the Pearl Police Department, arrested a man on Thursday for making terroristic threats towards the sheriff’s office.

Officials report that from approximately 10:13 p.m. Wednesday to 8:52 a.m. Thursday, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department Communications Division received more than 20 phone calls where 911 dispatchers were threatened with physical violence. The caller also threatened to “blow up” the office.

Investigators identified the suspect’s phone number by obtaining call recordings, leading them to label Joshua Daniel Pace as the suspect. A warrant for Pace’s arrest was then obtained.

Upon Pace’s arrest, it was discovered that he was out on parole through the Mississippi Department of Corrections for elder abuse. He is currently being held on a $100,000 bond and the investigation is ongoing.
