A man from the Pearl River Community of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians could face a decade in prison for incest.

Court documents reveal that, in July 2021, 52-year-old Ronnie Reed, Sr., had an illicit sexual relationship with an unidentified family member in the Pearl River Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation. Reed was indicted by a federal grand jury in October 2023 and pleaded guilty to his crimes on Thursday.

Reed is scheduled to be sentenced on July 25 and faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. A federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The Choctaw Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin J. Payne and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian K. Burns prosecuted the case.
