About halfway through Election Day, the Mississippi Secretary of State’s official website was attacked by a group of Russian hackers, forcing the page to become temporarily inaccessible.
While the site does not hold any voting data, it does provide a polling place locator for the state’s residents.
Secretary of State Michael Watson posted the following on Twitter late Tuesday night, ensuring that all elections were safe and fair:
Having a strong Secretary of State’s office that understands the importance of maintaining the integrity of our election system matters. To my team, well done! Proud of our hard work today. (2/2)

According to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, other websites were targeted but were not pushed offline.
