If you follow Mississippi State basketball recruiting, it seems the name Alden Applewhite has been connected with the Bulldogs for the past few seasons. Today, the connection was finally made, as the three star small forward from Compass Prep in Chandler, AZ made his commitment to Ben Howland’s program public.

Applewhite is the brother of former Bulldog DeAndre Applewhite, who played on Rick Ray’s 2013-14 squad before transferring. The younger Applewhite averaged 15 points and 5 rebounds per game as a junior for Houston High School in Memphis, TN. 247Sports rates him as the #121 player in the Class of 2021. Applewhite picked the Bulldogs over offers from Clemson, Iowa State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M. He joins power forward KeShawn Murphy as the only two members of the Bulldog class, as the team only has two seniors on the roster.
