Coming off a season that saw Mississippi State improve by three wins and extend their bowl streak to 12 seasons, the university has rewarded head football coach Mike Leach with an extension on his contract. Leach’s deal now runs through the 2025 season, a four-year deal that is the maximum allowed by Mississippi state law. Leach’s original deal paid him a salary of five million dollars a year, no new financial details were disclosed at this time.
Leach’s squad starts the 2022 season at home with a 6:30 kickoff against the Memphis Tigers. Leach is not scheduled to speak with the media until State’s appearance at SEC Media Days on Tuesday, July 19.
