Mississippi State’s all-time leading passer is hitting the transfer portal.
Sources have confirmed to SuperTalk Mississippi News that Will Rogers plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal ahead of the winter transfer window opening on Dec. 4. The decision from Rogers comes one day after the Bulldogs lost to Ole Miss 17-7 in Thursday night’s Egg Bowl.
Though Rogers was plagued by injuries throughout most of the 2023 campaign, the Brandon native finished the regular season with 1,626 passing yards and 12 touchdowns with four interceptions. He added one rushing touchdown on the ground.
Over the course of four years in Starkville, Rogers thrived under the now-abandoned Air Raid which the late Mike Leach brought to Mississippi State. Getting the starting nod as a freshman, Rogers went on to pass for 12,315 yards and 94 touchdowns with 28 interceptions. He is second all-time in the SEC in passing yards behind only former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray.
The Bulldogs finished the year with a 5-7 record after firing first-year head coach Zach Arnett last week. Rogers, who has one year of eligibility remaining, is expected to be one of the top quarterback transfers in this year’s class.
