Mississippi State had to move its series around the threat of severe weather on Sunday, but a beautiful Saturday saw the Bulldogs grab both ends of a doubleheader and sweep their series against Texas A&M with 3-2 and 10-5 wins over the Aggies.

State took advantage of shoddy defense from the Aggies in game one, scoring on a wild pitch and an error to take a 2-0 lead. A Brad Cumbest sac fly extended that lead to 3-0, and from there the Bulldogs held on. Stone Simmons got the final four outs to register his second save of the season.
In the nightcap, the Bulldogs fell behind early, but rallied with 2 runs in the fourth and 4 runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Jackson Fristoe struggled as the starter, but Houston Harding took over in the third and gave the Bulldogs five innings of scoreless relief. The Bulldog bats were impressive in game three, racking up 17 hits.

MSU improves to 32-10, 14-7 in the SEC, racking up their third series sweep in conference play. The Bulldogs sit one game out of first place in the conference, State will be back in action on Tuesday in non-conference action as they travel to The Citadel, the alma mater of Coach Chris Lemonis. State will stay on the road next weekend as they’ll head to Columbia to take on South Carolina.
