There is no state where college baseball is a bigger deal than Mississippi, and that was made evident on Friday, as the NCAA listed Starkville, Oxford, and Hattiesburg among the 20 potential host sites for the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
The Road to Omaha will go through 16 of these 20 potential host sites.

Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Southern Mississippi are all currently ranked in the most recent poll from D1 Baseball, and are among the top 26 teams in RPI. The Bulldogs are likely to host regardless of the results of the final two weeks of the season, whereas the Rebels and Golden Eagles need to continue to add to their resume. The most recent regional projections had both Ole Miss and USM on the road for regional play, with the Golden Eagles joining Jackson State in Starkville, and the Rebels heading to Ruston, LA for first round action.
