A Mississippi man has been arrested for allegedly holding a woman against her will and subjecting her to the “most extreme levels of inhumane treatment” for several days.
According to a release from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were investigating a burglary on QD Smith Lane in Silver Creek on May 1 when they noticed suspicious activity at a vacant home next door. That’s when they found Isaiah Daijion Herring, of Columbia, holding a woman captive inside.

“During the course of the investigation, we have learned that [Herring] held her captive for the past several days, subjecting her to the most extreme levels of inhumane treatment,” Sheriff Ryan Everett said.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a hospital to be treated for her injuries. Based on the charges Herring is facing, she may have been pregnant at the time of her abduction and torture.
Herring is charged with kidnapping, attempted murder, first-degree murder of an unborn child, and burglary of a dwelling.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim for a speedy recovery,” Everett added.
