The man accused of riding up on his motorcycle and shooting at Olive Branch police during a traffic stop has had his bond set at $1 million.
Charges against Colby Alan Towles, 34, were upgraded from two counts of aggravated assault of an officer to two counts of attempted murder of a police officer, according to the DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office. Towles is also being charged with conspiracy to commit a crime.
On March 11 at 1:43 a.m., Towles is said to have pulled up on his Harley Davidson motorcycle during a traffic stop on Highway 302 near the intersection of Craft-Goodman Frontage Road. He allegedly began yelling at officers before speeding off and making a U-turn. On his way back, shots were fired. Police returned gunfire, but Towles was able to get away.
The following day, law enforcement located Towles two states to the north at a hotel in Springfield, Mo. His girlfriend, Sarah Skriver, was also arrested for accessory after the fact and is accused of hindering law enforcement to help Towles escape police.
