MSDH confirms 1,561 new COVID-19 cases

While the monkeypox virus has dominated the headlines recently, COVID-19 is continuing to spread throughout Mississippi.

On Thursday, the Mississippi State Department of Health confirmed 1,561 new cases, bringing the state’s total to 882,319. With three additional deaths, 12,678 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus. In addition, there are currently 197 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care facilities.

Mississippi is currently averaging 1,213 daily cases over the last week, a 16% decrease from two weeks ago. As of Monday, 1,557,324 Mississippi residents were fully vaccinated.
