New COVID-19 cases approached the 1,000 mark in the latest report from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
The latest report of 920 new COVID-19 cases brings the state’s total up to 292,811. With the confirmation of 8 additional deaths, 6,613 Mississippians have now passed away from the virus.
*MSDH Note: 2 COVID-19 related deaths occurred between February 11 and February 17, identified from death certificate reports.
Continuing a positive trend, overall COVID-19-related hospitalizations have dipped below 500 for the first time since mid-October 2020.
Over 520,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Mississippi as eligibility expands to teachers and first responders.
