MSDH reports 1,611 new COVID-19 cases

COVID-19 is continuing to cycle through the Magnolia State according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s latest report confirming 1,611 new cases.

Friday’s update brings the state’s total number of cases to 856,061. With five additional deaths, the complete number of Mississippians who have passed as a result of the virus is now 12,568. Additionally, there are currently 195 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care facilities.

Mississippi is averaging 1,608 daily cases over the last week. As of Monday, 1,557,939 (52%) of Mississippi residents were fully vaccinated.
