On Tuesday, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) confirmed 8,144 new cases of COVID-19.
The seven-day update brings the state’s total number of recorded cases since the onset of the pandemic to 913,049. With 28 additional deaths, 12,794 Mississippians have now passed away as a result of the virus. Additionally, there are currently 165 ongoing outbreaks in long-term care facilities.
Mississippi is currently averaging 1,229 daily cases, a 1% decrease from two weeks ago. As of August 15, 1,560,456 Mississippians were fully vaccinated.
