MSDH reports three-day total of 12,711 new COVID-19 cases

On Monday, the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH) reported 12,711 more cases of COVID-19.

The three-day total, which covers January 21-23, brings the state’s total number of cases to 694,093. With the confirmation of 17 additional deaths, 10,734 Mississippians have passed away from the virus. According to MSDH, 75.3% of people who have died from COVID-19 during the period of December 24-January 20 were either partially vaccinated or not vaccinated at all.

As of Monday, 1,414 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. Total hospitalizations peaked at 1,667 during the Delta wave.
