Natchez natives and siblings Hannah and Nathan Hinkle brought home a win for their hometown after winning third place in the self-proclaimed “largest dessert festival and competition in America” on Saturday.

The Dessert Wars features 50 to 60 other dessert vendors hoping to win the 10 judges over for the grand title of “Dessert Champion” in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hannah took her Rolling ‘N’ the Dough dessert shop’s “Nine Months” edible cookie dough recipe to fight for the winning spot but was surprised when she and her brother ranked in the top three.

Rolling ‘N’ the Dough’s award-winning duo: “Nine Months” and iced coffee.

Around 2,000 people attended the event with the Hinkle duo concocting around 1,000 servings for those who wished to try the sweet and salty cookie dough combination.

Inspiration for the unique recipe of pretzel, graham cracker, chocolate, and toffee popcorn came from pregnant customers who fell in love with the egg-less dessert after visiting Rolling ‘N’ the Dough in Natchez.

Although the shop does not have a physical location currently, the Hinkle’s award-winning desserts can be found at the Downtown Natchez Farmer’s Market on Saturdays or on Facebook and Instagram.
