For the first time in program history, the Northwest Lady Rangers will begin the season ranked as the No. 1 team in the country.
The Lady Rangers have posted back-to-back dazzling campaigns, losing just five games in two years and securing consecutive national tournament appearances. But as the success of James Beattie’s club continues to heighten, so do the expectations. In 2024, the defending NJCAA Region 23 champions will start at the top of the mountain.
Northwest was unanimously voted as the top-ranked team in the preseason poll, while MACCC compatriot Jones College came in at No. 2. Other MACCC partners in the rankings include Pearl River at No. 13 and Mississippi Gulf Coast just outside the top 25 receiving votes.
It’s the second lofty ranking in a preseason poll for the Lady Rangers after being ranked seventh in the United Soccer Coaches Junior College Division II rankings. Northwest will kick off the highly anticipated season on Saturday, Aug. 24 against Mineral Area College in Senatobia.
