An officer-involved shooting that took place in Canton on Tuesday night has resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including the suspect.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) reported that the incident involving the Madison County Sheriff’s Department occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the area of Oakfield Boulevard in Canton.
Deputies responded to a call for service regarding a domestic disturbance at a home where it is believed the involved subject had fatally injured another individual at this scene.
Upon arrival, officers found two of the victims near the entrance of the neighborhood, later hearing that the gunman was still in the area.
Once found, the subject allegedly pulled a weapon on officers. The unidentified subject was then shot and killed.
In total, three victims were wounded during the incident, with one of the individuals later passing from their injuries.
MBI is currently assessing the shooting and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the attorney general’s office.
