An officer-involved shooting that took place in Canton on Tuesday night is under investigation.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is looking into the incident involving the Madison County Sheriff’s Department that occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the area of Oakfield Boulevard in Canton.
Deputies responded to a call for service regarding a domestic disturbance at a home where it is believed the involved subject had fatally injured another individual at this scene.
Upon arrival, the subject allegedly pulled a weapon on officers. The unidentified subject was then shot and killed. No deputies involved received any serious physical injuries during the incident.
MBI is currently assessing the shooting and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the attorney general’s office.
