A fifth person has been taken into custody for a fatal Thanksgiving Eve shooting at a Columbus convenience store.
First reported by WTVA, Columbus Police Chief Joseph Daughtry has confirmed that 24-year-old Rufus Lee Neal III was detained by officers on Tuesday.
Neal joins four other suspects — 17-year-old Johnny Coleman, 17-year-old Kenzel Guyton, 18-year-old Tavaris Mixon, Jr., and 17-year-old Rasheed Neal — in being arrested for a Wednesday night shooting outside the Ready Mart store on North McCrary Rd.
The gunfire ultimately took the life of 17-year-old Labronze Moore, who succumbed to his injuries at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson on Saturday around 12 p.m.
Nearly 30 bullet casings were reportedly found at the scene of the shooting. All five suspects are charged with murder.
The teenage suspects will be tried as adults.
