Officials working to identify body found at Yazoo City storage unit

Officials are working to identify the remains of a decomposing body found at a storage unit in Yazoo City.

As reported by WLBT, Jackie and David Edmonds went to their older brother’s storage unit on Tuesday, and upon lifting up the door, they were met with a rank smell that resulted in the two discovering the body.

While they couldn’t tell who it was, their worst fear is that it’s their older brother, Sam Edmonds, who went missing about a month ago.

Chief Terry Gann of the Yazoo City Police Department told the Jackson TV station that Sam is still being considered as a missing person case until an autopsy is performed. One of their only leads so far is that Sam’s truck, a blue Ford Ranger, is believed to have been stolen when he went missing.

The remains are currently at the State Crime Lab in Pearl.
