After securing victories against conference opponents, both Ole Miss (5-0) and Mississippi State (4-1) made leaps in this week’s Associated Press poll.
While the Rebels were flirting with their first loss of the season late in the game versus Kentucky, a pair of forced fumbles on consecutive drives allowed Lane Kiffin’s squad to secure a 22-19 home victory as well as a No. 9 spot in the latest AP rankings.
Mississippi State, on the other hand, dominated Texas A&M 42-24 on Saturday. Led by three touchdowns from Will Rogers and two interceptions, one of which was a pick-six, made by Emmanuel Forbes, the Bulldogs landed in the AP rankings for the first time this season coming in at No. 23.
